Reduce Echo in a Voice Recording
Reduce Echo in a Voice Recording
About this option
Recording in an empty room, a kitchen or an office makes speech sound hollow. This page opens the de-echo tool at a moderate setting: it trims low-end rumble and harsh highs, and compresses the tails of reflections so the voice sits forward.
When to use it
- A voice-over or interview recorded in a hard-walled room sounds hollow
- A phone recording has a boomy, distant quality
- A podcast guest recorded in a reverberant space
How to use it
- 1Drop your recording — the moderate setting is already applied
- 2Listen to the original and processed versions side by side
- 3Adjust intensity and the damping sliders until it sounds natural, then download
Frequently asked questions
Does it remove echo completely?
No. It reduces it with filtering and dynamics processing; heavy reverb can only be softened, not eliminated. Recording closer to the microphone is the best fix.
Will it make the voice sound processed?
Strong settings can. Keep the intensity moderate and compare against the original often.
Does it also reduce background noise?
It lowers steady low-level noise through its noise floor control, but it isn't a full noise remover.
