GIF Maker & Splitter

What is this tool?

GIF Maker & Splitter does two jobs. In Make mode it combines 2–60 images into one animated GIF with your chosen width, time per frame, looping and optional forwards-then-backwards playback. In Split mode it reads an existing GIF and saves every frame as a PNG, with disposal and transparency applied so each frame looks exactly as it did on screen.

When to use it

  • Turning a series of screenshots into a short product demo
  • Making a simple slideshow or flipbook animation from photos
  • Extracting individual frames from a GIF to edit or reuse them
  • Grabbing a single still from a reaction GIF
  • Checking how many frames and how long an animated GIF really is

How to use it

  1. 1Choose Make a GIF or Split a GIF at the top
  2. 2To make one: drop your images, reorder them by dragging, then set width, time per frame and looping and press Create GIF
  3. 3To split one: drop a GIF, review the frame thumbnails, then download a single frame or all of them as a ZIP
  4. 4Preview the result, then download it

Frequently asked questions

How many images can I turn into a GIF?

Up to 60 images per animation. Larger widths and more frames make bigger files, so use a smaller width for sharing.

Why does my GIF look slightly grainy?

GIF is limited to 256 colours. The tool builds one shared palette for the whole animation to keep colours steady, but photos with smooth gradients will always look less rich than the originals.

Does splitting keep transparency?

Yes. Frames are composited with the GIF's own disposal rules and saved as PNG, so transparent areas stay transparent.

Is there a size limit when splitting?

Very large GIFs (hundreds of frames at high resolution) are refused rather than crashing your browser tab — the limit is about 600 frames or 600 MB of decoded pixels.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Both the GIF encoder and decoder are built into the page and run locally.
