Image Comparison Slider

What is this tool?

The Image Comparison Slider combines two images into one frozen "slider" frame. The first image fills the canvas, the second takes over past the divider, and a handle and labels can be added. The preview you drag is drawn by the same code as the download, so the exported file matches exactly what you see.

When to use it

  • Showing a photo edit or retouch next to the original
  • Presenting a renovation, makeover or redesign
  • Comparing two versions of a screenshot, logo or design
  • Illustrating the effect of a filter, upscaler or compressor
  • Making shareable before/after posts for social media

How to use it

  1. 1Drop the before image and the after image
  2. 2Drag on the preview to move the divider (or use the arrow keys)
  3. 3Choose a left/right or top/bottom divider, then edit or hide the labels and handle
  4. 4Pick a format and click Download comparison image

Frequently asked questions

Do the two images need to be the same size?

No. The second image is fitted to the first one's frame (centre-cropped to fill it), so they line up even when the sizes differ. For the cleanest result use images with the same aspect ratio.

Can I save an interactive slider for a website?

This tool exports a single still image of the slider at the position you choose, which works anywhere an image does — social posts, documents and messages.

Can I change the labels?

Yes. Edit the two label texts or hide them entirely, and hide the circular handle if you prefer a plain line.

Can the divider be horizontal?

Yes — switch to Top / bottom to compare with the first image above the line and the second below it.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Both images are processed locally in your browser.
