Image Aspect Fit & Padding
Image Aspect Fit & Padding
What is this tool?
The Image Aspect Fit & Padding tool places your image inside a canvas with the aspect ratio you choose, growing the canvas rather than cutting the picture. The blurred-background option stretches and softens the photo behind itself, the look used by most social apps, and you can set a fixed output size or keep the original resolution.
When to use it
- Posting a landscape or portrait photo to a square feed without cropping it
- Preparing a vertical 9:16 story from a horizontal image
- Making thumbnails of one consistent ratio for a product catalogue
- Adding letterbox bars to fit a video-sized 16:9 frame
- Batch-padding a folder of mixed-size images to the same shape
How to use it
- 1Drop one or more images
- 2Pick an aspect ratio preset or enter your own
- 3Choose a blurred, solid-colour or transparent fill
- 4Choose an output size and click Download — several images arrive as a ZIP
Frequently asked questions
Does this crop my image?
Never. The canvas is enlarged around the picture, so every pixel of the original stays visible. If you do want to cut parts away, use the Image Cropper.
How does the blurred background work?
A scaled-up, softened copy of your photo fills the canvas behind the sharp original. The Blur amount slider controls how soft it is.
Can I keep the padding transparent?
Yes — choose Transparent and download as PNG or WebP. JPEG has no transparency, so it fills the padding with white.
What if my image is already the right ratio?
It is output unchanged apart from the optional resize to your chosen long side.
Is my data sent to a server?
No, the padding is done on your own device in the browser.
