About this option

A4 documents sent to the United States, Canada or the Philippines usually need to be converted to Letter before printing or filing. This preset opens the page-size tool on 8.5 × 11 inches with Fit scaling, so the content is reduced to sit within the shorter, wider page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Letter bigger or smaller than A4?

Letter is about 6 mm wider and 18 mm shorter than A4, so A4 content is scaled down slightly to fit the height.

Will margins change?

Content keeps its proportions, and extra white space appears on the sides if the shapes differ.

Can I resize to Legal instead?

Yes. Choose Legal or any other size from the page size menu.
