Make a Printable PDF Booklet
Make a Printable PDF Booklet
About this option
A booklet is printed two pages to a side, double-sided, with the pages in an unusual order so that folding the stack in half makes them read correctly. This preset opens the layout tool in booklet mode and does the page imposition for you — pad to a multiple of four, order the sides, and place them two-up.
When to use it
- Printing a zine, programme, manual or small book at home
- Making an A5 booklet from an A4 printer using fold-in-half sheets
- Producing a saddle-stitched stack of folded sheets
How to use it
- 1Drop the PDF — booklet mode is already selected
- 2Choose left or right binding, depending on the language direction
- 3For a long document, set a signature size to split it into smaller stacks
- 4Create the PDF, print it double-sided (flip on the short edge) and fold
Frequently asked questions
How do I print it?
Print double-sided, flipping on the short edge, then fold the whole stack in half. The pages will fall in order.
What if my page count is not a multiple of 4?
Blank pages are added at the end so the sheets fold evenly.
What is a signature?
A signature is a smaller group of sheets folded and bound together. Use it for thick documents so the fold does not become too bulky.
